‘Value the gift of life and try to do a little better everyday’ are just some of the guiding principles that Rashida Beckles lives by. Rashida has travelled regionally and internationally through volunteer opportunities, educational adventures and professional enterprise. A Leo by birth she holds much pride in all she does and is passionate about people development. Energetic creative, resourceful and supportive are key words used to describe her by some of her peers. A Human Resource & Community Development professional, Rashida has worked both in the public and private sector at institutions such as the National HIV/AIDS Commission, CARICOM, the OECS, Sandals Barbados, Fairmont Royal Pavilion and Montrose Holdings Ltd. Her studies include Sociology, Social Policy and Learning & Development. Rashida’s other contributions also span education, from time to time, as a part-time tutor with the University of the West Indies (Open Campus) & the Community Development Department. She has also been appointed to and served on two boards in recent years, further contributing to the growth of her community and country. Rashida has been an active member of several reputable organisations & has received some awards in her lifetime which include; ● National Development Scholarship ● David Thompson Award (Academic Achievement) ● Recipient-International Womens’ Day Award-UWI Nita Barrow Award for HIV/AIDS Rashida loves seafood, performing arts, nature, experiencing other cultures, family time and a good comedy. This year she is focusing on wellness, enterprise and of course being of service to her community in one way or another.
